"... Jesus breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit..."
John 20: 22
Confirmation is the sacrament that seals the candidate with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the sacramental character (an indelible mark on the soul that never goes away) to become an ardent defender of the faith.
During the process of preparation for this sacrament, the students are required to complete Community Service Hours and study the scriptures at Sunday Mass.

Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, we are implementing the "restored order" of the sacraments of initiation. That is, Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion should be received in that order, representing our journey from birth (Baptism), growing up and journeying through life (Confirmation), to heaven (Communion with God forever).
Under the new schema, 2nd graders will receive first penance, and 3rd graders will be confirmed and receive first holy Communion at the same Mass at the Cathedral (Announcement from May 2021).
In the Fall of 2021, all students from 4th-8th grade who have not yet been confirmed will receive the sacrament.
