Fr. John Paul Klein, OMV: Pastor
Fr. John Paul comes to St. Mary's from the Lanteri Center in Denver, CO after 13 years of ministry overseas with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. While a member of the General Council of the Oblates, he assisted in Parish work in Vienna, Austria where he also began preaching Parish Missions and Ignatian retreats. During the past 6 years as administrator of an Oblate Residence in Rome, Italy, he was also Provincial Vicar (Italy) and remained active as a confessor, spiritual director and leading retreat days.
Fr. John Paul is originally from Wisconsin (Green Bay Packers!) where he completed an M.S. degree in Biology and Ph.D. in Respiratory Physiology. After teaching and doing research at the Univ. of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and Heidelberg, Germany, he entered the seminary of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in Rome. He was ordained in 1989 and after teaching at Our Lady of Grace Seminary in Boston, he was Director of the St. Francis Chapel, Boston, and Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Alton, IL before being assigned overseas.
Fr. John Luong, OMV: Parochial Vicar
Fr. John was ordained on August 4, 2012. He is a die hard Yankees fan even though he grew up in Michigan. He is the oldest out of five children. Fr. John professed final vows with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary in 2012. St. Mary's Parish is his first assignment.
Fr. John Wykes, OMV: Parochial Vicar
Fr. John is from Detroit and was stationed at St. Mary's from 1996 to 2003. He was the first OMV ordained in our parish church. During that time he also worked at Marquette Catholic High School and Saint Anthony's Health Center. From 2003 to 2014, Fr. John lived in Boston, working at the OMV seminary there and serving as director of Saint Francis Chapel in Boston's Prudential Center. He is also an award-nominated filmmaker, videographer, and media/film instructor, and holds a Masters degree in Digital Media from Boston's Northeastern University. After eleven years in Boston, Fr. John is happy to be "back home" at St. Mary's. Fr. John enjoys movies, music, martial arts, and heavy-duty workouts at Metro Sports.
Fr. David Beauregard, OMV:
Retired Priest in Residence
Fr. David was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and is a big Packer and Patriots fan. He has one brother and two sisters. He professed his vows with the Oblates in 1975 and was ordained a priest on June 14th, 1980. He was a professor of English literature at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for six years
and professor of Church History at St. John' Seminary in Boston, MA for seven years. He has written two books and numerous articles on Shakespeare. He enjoys teaching classes right here at St. Mary's on a regular basis. Classes include such topics as Shakespeare, Chaucer, and Church History.
Br. Lou Falbo, OMV:
Retired Brother in Residence
Br. Lou was born in 1932 in Detroit, MI. He lived and worked there for 42 years except for 2 years in the military. In his younger years he worked as a delivery boy for a grocery store, had a paper route, set pins at a bowling alley, caddied at the golf course and worked at a bakery before working in the automotive industry and the post office.
In 1974 he entered the religious life with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. After a 2 year stay in Italy was assigned to St. Clement Eucharistic Shrine in Boston Where he spent most of his time working in administration as the treasurer of our province. Please make a point to introduce yourself to him at the weekday morning Masses as he always enjoys meeting new people here at St. Mary's.
Deacon Jim Schwartzkopf
Deacon Jim was born in the Alton area and has been involved in St. Mary's Parish most of his life. He has been married to Donna since December of 1979 and they have two daughters, Monica and Laura both of whom are married and have two children. Jim was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Springfield Illinois on June 16th, 2012 and is assigned to St. Mary's. Jim and Donna own their own printing business and also keep busy serving the needs of the parish.
Laurie Horn has been parish secretary at St. Mary's since 2001 and a parishioner for even longer. Laurie is responsible for all preschool and school tuition questions you may have. She is also the one to contact for questions about St. Joseph Cemetery. She and her husband Matt live in Godfrey and are the parents of 4 children and the grandparents of 2 little boys.
Tricia Conrad has been a member of our office staff since 20015. She and her husband Jeff live in Alton, with their two children. Tricia can help you with any questions regarding the ministry schedule, scrip purchases, sacramental records, baptisms, or bulletin content.
was born and raised in the Alton area.
She joined our staff as the Business Manager and Development Director in August of 2013. She is married to Paul and they reside in Godfrey with their six children.
Dennis Keller has been director of
music and organist here at St. Mary's since the Fall of 2015. Born in Cebu, the Philippines, Dennis grew up in South St. Louis. A Catholic all his life, Dennis has been fully dedicated to an active and fruitful ministry since the age of 19. He worked for ten years in the diocese of Phoenix, AZ as a Liturgy and Music Director. He also got involved in missionary work, which included serving and experiencing the underground Church in China, leading music at the Vatican, and guiding hundreds of young people to find beauty and mystery in the Liturgy.
